Participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Vietnam Vahram Kazhoyan in the official ceremony of assuming the 2020 presidency of ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) by Vietnam

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Vietnam Vahram Kazhoyan participated in the official ceremony of assuming the 2020 presidency of ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) by Vietnam that took place at the residence of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on January 6, 2020.

Ten countries of the South-East Asia are members of the organization with a total population of 650 million people. ASEAN with its dynamic rising economy according to 2018 data, rank the third place in the world with 2,95 trillion US Dollars total gross domestic product (GDP).

The Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, as well as other ministers and deputy ministers, members of the National Organizing Committee of ASEAN 2020 participated in the event. Ambassadors and Chargé d'Affaires of the Diplomatic Missions accredited to Vietnam were also present at the event.

The Government of the country gave importance to this presidency, along with its membership in the UN Security Council, considering it as one of the most important achievements of 2020. The year of the Vietnamese presidency will be held under the title «Cohesive and Responsive». It is planned to hold more than 300 official events, meetings, as well as high-level and ministerial meetings during the year.

Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the opening speech, after which the ceremony of raising of the ASEAN flag and the launch of the 2020 presidency website took place. (https://asean2020.vn/).
